Tile repairs, re-tiling and replacement
Repairs can be as simple as replacing individual tiles and re-bedding ridges. When a roof needs re-tiling we strip the tiles, renew the membrane and battens, then re-lay the sound tiles supplemented with matching ones, or fit entirely new tiles. We use mechanical fixings to the standards that apply in exposed areas.

Clay or concrete tiles
Clay tiles keep their colour and last the longest. Concrete tiles are strong, cost less and suit most post-war houses. If you are repairing a period roof, matching clay is usually the right choice, while a full re-roof of a standard house in concrete can offer the best value. We give you honest guidance.
What affects the cost?
The cost of tiling work depends on the tile type, the roof area, how much of the underlay and batten structure needs renewing and access. We quote in writing after a survey and list tile type and quantity.

Can individual tiles be replaced?
Yes. A broken tile is lifted and replaced with a matching one, and surrounding tiles are checked and secured.
How long do roof tiles last?
Concrete tiles commonly last around 50 years. Good clay tiles can last much longer. The felt and battens underneath often need renewing before the tiles do.
Can you match old clay tiles?
Often, yes. We source reclaimed tiles and specialist handmade tiles to match existing roofs, especially for period and conservation area properties.
Do you clean and treat tiles?
