GRP Fibreglass Roofing across London

GRP stands for glass-reinforced polyester. A layer of resin and glass-fibre matting is laid on a prepared deck and finished with a pigmented topcoat. It cures quickly into a rigid shell with no seams or joints for water to find.

It suits roofs of nearly any shape, including dormers, bay windows, balconies, garages and extensions, and it handles foot traffic well. We fit GRP with proper edge trims, drip details and upstands so the roof looks neat and stays watertight.

Why choose GRP

  • Seamless surface with no laps or joins to fail
  • Strong and impact resistant, good for roofs you will walk on
  • Quick to install and fully cured within a short time
  • Suits small, awkward and complex shapes
  • Long expected life when installed on a sound deck

How a GRP roof is installed

We prepare a sound, dry timber deck, usually plywood or OSB, fit trims, apply the resin and glass-fibre layers and finish with a topcoat in your choice of colour. Good installation depends on temperature and dry weather, because moisture in the deck or damp conditions can affect adhesion.

We can lay GRP over a new deck as part of a replacement, or over a new warm roof build-up with insulation beneath. If you need a roof you can use regularly, we offer a non-slip finish.

How it works

Prepare the deck

We make sure the deck is sound, dry and laid to falls.

Fit trims

Drip, edge and upstand trims are installed before lamination.

Laminate

Resin and glass-fibre layers form a continuous membrane.

Top coat

Pigmented topcoat gives colour, UV protection and a smooth finish.

GRP compared with EPDM and felt

GRP is rigid, so it needs a firm deck and can crack where a building moves a lot. EPDM is flexible and suits large simple roofs. Felt is cheaper but typically has a shorter life. See flat roofing for a full comparison.

What affects the cost?

GRP roof cost depends on area, shape, deck condition and the finish. Small roofs cost more per square metre than large ones. We quote after a free survey.

GRP Fibreglass Roofing FAQs

How long does a GRP roof last?

Installed well on a good deck, a GRP roof can last 25 years or more, longer with regular cleaning and checks.

Can GRP be fitted over my existing roof?

Usually the old covering is removed and the deck checked first. We assess whether the existing deck is suitable.

What colours are available?

Common finishes are grey and black, with other colours available. We will show you options.

Does GRP crack?

It can if the deck moves or is poorly prepared. That is why correct deck preparation and good trims matter.
